is every DAT scored the exact same way? is there a particular number of correct answers that is set in stone that defines a score out of 30? For example, if i was aiming for a 23 on the bio section, is there a defined number of questions i would have to get right or can it vary for every individual test?

varies.

Since the number scores are all based on how the rest of all the test takers are doing, it really changed from time to time. I've heard that sometimes it's actually impossible to get a 29 in Bio because if you miss one you get shot down to 28. It's a weird system.

I think you shoot down more than that.
