Seeking Advice on Transfusion Medicine / Blood Bank Job Searching

It seems that most job openings for recent fellows in blood bank / transfusion medicine are in academic institutions. If you lack publications and research experience, is there still a chance of securing a position? What are some resources for job searching in this subspecialty beyond networking?

I don't think research is 100% necessary, but networking is essential. If you know the area that you want to be in, start reaching out and cold calling. Also, make sure you attend local blood bank conferences and AABB this year if you can. You're an unproven quantity as a recent grad, but be patient, the jobs are out there. Be flexible in your search location if you can.
