I'm interested (almost certain) in pursuing ob/gyn. The director of my DO program is adament that we shouldn't be taking the USMLE (in addition to Comlex) unless we're an A student. However, I feel like she may have ulterior motives. Thoughts?
You're wrong if you don't take it... Unless you wanna go into family medicine or can't score above 15th percentile on practice tests. It will open up more doors than you think.

Essentially, take the exam if you can do well on it. Do not take it if your practice exams are terrible because then you will have an unnecessary red flag on you.
OB is extremely difficult to deal with without the USMLE. Last year 3-4 didn't match that just had comlex and this year a friend who is over 600 comlex, no usmle will likely match, but struggled to get the AIs she wanted. So prepare to do it.

Has she looked at the charting outcomes? For ob/gyn, not only do DOs basically need the USMLE to have a good chance of matching, they also seem to need to have higher scores to match.
