My parents weren't divorced until late last year, and the filed jointly for the 2003 tax year. As per the FAFSA FAQ I seperated their income from the tax return and only included my mother's information (who provides more support, though I get very little from either parent).

I was selected for verification and I"m not sure what to include. It wants both a copy of the tax return and W2. What I'm uncertain about is whether to include the joint tax return or not. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of information about how to handle things with divorced parents, and it makes it much harder since it was so recent.

Just call tham ans ask them what they want. They are actually fairly nice.

Yea, it's not a big deal. Being selected for verification is a random process. Happened to my gf last year. Once she sent in the returns they ask for, everything was cool.
