Selectively sending letters-Can school still see name of LoR writer even if not getting that LoR?

I know using AMCAS you can selectively send letters to schools. I am wondering however if you want to send a letter to a few schools, will other schools you are applying to still see the name of the LoR/LoR writer on your AMCAS application. I.e. if i sent a letter to schools X and Y would schools A and B still see that I had a LoR from someone and I didn't send it to them?

Honestly I'm not sure about a PI LoR. I think I'm fine for most of my schools without it but for the tippy top reach ones I'm planning on sending it to them (ie what do i have to lose?). However, I'd rather not send it to most of the more clinically oriented , modestly ranked schools on my list or have these schools know I sent a letter to other ones but not to them? @kyamh...You concur with Ismet?
