The podiatrist I shadowed asked if I could write the letter myself and he would sign off on it. Any advice on what to write in it or on the length. Is the letter just for conformation of shadowing or do they want more? Thanks everyone!

I had a doc do this to me once early on in undergrad and I ended up just going another route. It's so hard to do; especially to make it sound like a physician wrote it. I'd recommend convincing him to actually write it himself or find someone else to do it. Don't want to start out your graduate medical education with something dishonest. Just my opinion.

It might be difficult, but if the doctor asked you to write it because he/she is too busy or something then do what they say. This is a great opportunity you have here. You have a blank slate and can make yourself seem incredible

Yes, make it a confirmation of shadowing. But you also need to include things about your character, interest in the profession, likeableness, friendliness, etc. Put yourself in the mind of the podiatrist and write from that point of view

If you have another physician also writing a letter for you (that isn't in a blinded pre-medical committee packet), you can look at what they say and write something along those lines.
