so i submitted my ERAS last week but I just got another LOR from a residency director in a field that i'm interested in that i'd like to include along with my application. problem is i've already submitted 4 letters. is there a way on ERAS to replace one of my submitted LOR with the 5th letter, or somehow inactivate one of my LOR to replace it?

thanks!

No, there isn't. The instructions about this are pretty clear. There are 4 slots for letters, once they are all filled, that's it.

You can send the letter via email to programs. However, I would seriously consider not doing this. There's a limit of 4 letters for a specific reason -- you're supposed to choose what you think are your best four letters.

Nope. Bad planning on your part but it happens to lots of people.

Email it to programs that offer you interviews but don't expect them to care. Your app as it stands now already runs to 30 pages or so. You may be thinking "what's one more page when it's already 30?" I (who have to read it), OTOH am thinking "I don't see the Nobel Prize listed anywhere...I'm not going to waste my time."

normally this wouldn't be a big deal but since i'm applying to EM and this is a SLOR, its kind of important. i guess i'll check with the school and see if they'd be willing to email it for me.

man i really fked up bad, totally shouldnt have jumped the gun on sending out the application

Although perhaps true, an EM application without a SLOR is going nowhere.

So, given that, it seems worth contacting each program seperately, explaining the situation, and asking if you can email them the letter. But this doesn't make you look good, that's for certain.
