Is this a bad idea?

I have 2 MD recommendations and 1 DO recommendation.

Maybe I should just look for 1 more MD to get a rec?

Why are you getting so many physician LORs? You need letters from basic science professors, and then one or two from non-science faculty or from EC experiences.

MD schools rarely ask for a physician LOR, and if they do, it wouldn't matter if it were MD or DO.

The important letters to acquire are two science faculty who taught you, one nonscience, and a PI letter if you did research.

You have more than enough at this point. No LCME (MD) schools ask for a LOR from a physician, so no, med schools are not asking for three MD LORs. For most schools, unless you are sending a pre-med committee letter/evaluation, you will be unable to use all of those letters or will have to submit them as "additional" letters.

Some AACOM (DO) schools ask for a physician LOR, which can be form an MD or DO, with some specifically requesting a DO LOR.

That's a HUGE relief. I thought I would have to spend 300 bucks to go shadow a physician in Cali.... The more you know....
