I will be in Virginia for an EVMS interview and I would love to interview at VCU while I am there but I have not been invited to an interview from them yet. How can I professionally ask them whether they will interview me early without sounding desperate/annoying?

I would call them up and explain the situation. It may not get you an answer at all, but it is worth a shot if it would significantly decrease costs for you.

You could send an e-mail explaining the situation. That way you can't blurt out the wrong thing when you call.

well I just got an interview invite from VCU...now I guess it changes because at least I know that they want to interview me...lol I think I will call tomorrow morning...
