Hi everyone,

I'm signing up to take my Casper exam for the 2022-2023 cycle, and I only see about 20 or so schools on the list to send my scores to. There are a lot more schools that require it than the ones listed, so I was wondering how you would send scores to them. Additionally, do AMCAS or TMDSAS IDs expire every year?

Thanks!!

Additionally, I thought we only need to send one score to theTMDSAS application, which would account for all Texas schools. Is that not the case?

Thanks!!
This is not the case for TMDSAS.
TMDSAS handles your primary application and sends that to the TX schools you select.
TMDSAS also sends your MCAT scores to all the schools, be sure to release your MCAT score to TMDSAS!

All the stuff past the primary is between you and each school. TMDSAS is not the middleman for secondary essays or for CASPer.

I agree with you that the Altus site is not very user-friendly in figuring out which schools to send the test to. Be sure to look in both the allopathic section and Osteopathic section for your schools.
On my last count there were 46 MD and 13 DO schools who want the score this year.

Ok got it, thank you! So why is the list so short? Also, will IDs for the portals change?

Explain what you mean about IDs for the portals?
Not all schools value the CASPer test, or they might feel that they get at the same qualities in essays or by running an MMI style interview day.

In answer to your other question your AMCAS and TMDSAS IDs will stay the same. If you’re a reapplicant SOME but not all of the info on your new app will roll over. Be sure to proofread it line by line. Letters will have to be uploaded again

Great, thank you for your help! I'm not a reapplicant. It's just that I created accounts for the 2021-2022 cycle so that I can register for the May 5 Casper exam.

Looking at just the 3 Texas schools, only Galveston has listed dates for the 2022-2023 cycle (smart that you created an account now so you can have a TMDSAS ID number when you register. If you took the MCAT, your AAMC ID# should be your AMCAS number too (please let me know if that's not correct). Those ID numbers will streamline delivery of your scores to the appropriate schools.

Thank you for your response! I'm still a bit confused—what did you mean by Galveston being the only Texas school that has listed the dates? Does this mean that other schools aren't on the Casper send-to list yet because they haven't added Casper test dates yet?

As for the AAMC ID, you indeed are right that it's the same as the AMCAS one!

Don’t get bogged down in the details about this. Med schools don’t set any dates for CASPer, Altus does.
Your first task should be getting your TMDSAS app ready for submission and after that’s done take the CASPer.

I was planning on taking CASPer before the apps open up. Is that not advisable?
