While browsing the PASS site, I didn't see any place to attach a CV of any sorts. I'm assuming that CVs are typically sent to, or requested by, the programs as part of the secondary process. Is that correct?

And for what it's worth, the PASS application looks to be relatively worthless, IMO.

No, your CV is mailed to PASS along with some other supplemental forms. I may be mistaken, but I believe the website is not up and running until the end of May where you are then free to fill out all the basic info and submit your e-forms for LOR and such. It's good to get things in order before then, but don't stress too much until May or so to get things submitted (getting everything in by July is considered pretty quick... August is standard). JMO... Have fun during interviews! They really can be enjoyable if you don't let the finances get under your skin 😀

Yeah, most places will participate in PASS just to make the Dean happy, then they will ask for you send all the same stuff seperately anyway. Bunch of crapola if you ask me.

I believe each program I applied to requested a CV directly. And yes PASS is a racket; a very wealthy racket. But maybe I'm too quick to judge...maybe they photocopy my app materials onto gold-foiled paper before they get lost in the mail. 🙂

Good luck with pedo...

I agree, pass costs too much, limits the # of applications you want to send. We still accept direct applications for our program, not only from PASS.

Reason for pass was to "help" the student... one application that could be send all over (at a cost).. That coast has gotten higher and higher.
For the faculty and dean... one place to send their letters.. and not seperately to all programs. For the programs, one CV/essay, one set of recommendations - these has cut down on some "white lies" - like you are the only program for me...etc. And to speak for my secretary... helps with the paper work.

PASS would have been great - except about 20 of the ortho programs I applied to didn't actually participate with them. The ones that did participate had all this supplemental required stuff that made PASS seem worthless. There were very few ortho programs where only what PASS provided was adequate - Mayo, Pitt, maybe Louisville & Indiana come to mind. I ended up sending the same stuff for PASS over and over again to every program. 😡 And ultimately I got accepted to one of those non-PASS programs. Could have saved myself almost $1500 this year if only I had a crystal ball... (Not to mention all the money I spent on them the previous two years....)

PASS = 👎
