First of all, I have only taken the new GRE and I haven't gotten my scores yet.

All of the schools I'm applying to have new GRE codes, with the exception of one. The way I understand it is that with the new score, PTCAS also gets sent GRE scores so that schools can see it right from the PTCAS application. If that's the case do I really need to pay to send out all the scores to every school with the new code? It seems redundant...
Or am I missing something?

I had all of my GRE scores sent directly to my schools. My scores weren't ever sent to PTCAS, except for what I self reported. It has worked out and I am getting interviews.

I was told that ETS does not send the scores directly to PTCAS. You can self report your scores in your application and the schools will receive your nonofficial score that way but they will want an official score report sent from ETS that you will have to pay for. I know it is a hassle and a pain but it's just one of those things that we have to do... :annoyed: Hope this helps!

You're right!! That's exactly what I've done ..👍

This is a direct cc from the PTCAS PROGRAM MANUAL that admins use for 2011-12 cycle: This is a new change for this cycle's applicants.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ) ABOUT GRE CODES
[FONT=Calibri,Calibri][FONT=Calibri,Calibri]Will PTCAS continue to collect unofficial GRE scores? ..[FONT=Calibri,Calibri]
.YES. PTCAS will
• continue to collect unofficial GRE scores from applicants, as well as
• capture and report official GRE scores from ETS.
[FONT=Calibri,Calibri][FONT=Calibri,Calibri]Will PTCAS verify official GRE scores? ..[FONT=Calibri,Calibri]
.NO. PTCAS will not "verify" official GRE scores against the applicant's self-reported GRE scores on the PTCAS application. Therefore, the official and unofficial GRE scores may not match. PTCAS will accept and report official scores provided by ETS, even if the applicant did not report these scores on the application.
[FONT=Calibri,Calibri][FONT=Calibri,Calibri]How will PTCAS report official GRE scores to programs? ..[FONT=Calibri,Calibri]
.The GRE score data programs will receive via PTCAS will be identical to what programs would receive directly from ETS, although the formats will differ. A new "Official Test Results" header will be added to the PDF with the official GRE scores posted below it for every test taken by the applicant in the past 5 years, as reported by ETS. In the weekly electronic mailings the official GRE scores will be captured in a separate table from the unofficial scores. Official scores will be posted in the "GRE" table and unofficial (applicant-reported) scores will be captured in the separate "U GRE" table.
What will PTCAS do if it receives official GRE scores for one of our applicants, but the GRE college code is for a different PT program?
[FONT=Calibri,Calibri][FONT=Calibri,Calibri]If an applicant designates a PTCAS program with a new GRE code, then ETS will send the official scores to PTCAS. PTCAS will share those official GRE scores with all of the applicant's designated programs in PTCAS, regardless of the GRE college code(s).

That being said,
I choose my 4 free schools when I took my test (both old and new version) I then contacted the other 6 ish schools I was interested in.........I did not pay anything extra to ETS/GRE since all schools could see the verified score via PTCAS. one school was ok w/ a copy of my score report. Others were fine w/ PTCAS verification. You do have to self report your scores. Strongly suggest you check w/ the individual schools. I saved money. 🙂 I have also recontacted schools to make sure everything was in and acceptable and was told yes.
