I know it's really late in the application process, but I just decided to apply. I'm sending in the secondary today and I was wondering how long it takes for them to process it. Someone in the office told me one week but that doesnt seem right. My LOR's are already on the way too. Can someone tell me how long it took for them to hear back and how they contacted you. Thanks!

Is your primary application complete and has it been sent to COMP ? Did the COMP admissions office send you an email asking you to send in the Secondary ? The reason I ask is because I am in a similar position. I called the admissions office last week and they said that they had filled all of the interview spots for the month of April and that the admissions committee was going to decide if they wanted to send out interview invites for the month of May. The admissions office said that the decision would be taken sometime this week.

My primary is complete and has been received by COMP. My LOR's have already reached as well. They are just waiting to see if they should send me out a secondary based on the admissions committees' decision.

Any COMP insiders have any more info ?

wow guys, eventhough not impossible to get an interview this late in the game....it's still a little late in the process and don't be surprised if it takes a little while get back to you. Last year, my primary was in and confirmed by late october, secondary submitted by early december, interviewed mid january, accepted 5 days later. Hope if works out for you guys! Good luck!

Also, even if you get an interview this late in the game, it's very likely that you're interviewing for a waitlist spot. Not being on the admissions committee, i'm obviously speculating, but most schools have their classes by may (in fact there's a requirement to have all initial acceptances sent by may 15).

For comparison, I was a little later than Don, having my primary and secondary submitted in January, interview in February, and accepted first week of March. To still be submitting secondary's in the last week of April, I'd personally say it's too late. The school will never tell you that, however. Something about application fees. My advice would be to save your time and money, and submit a new primary as soon as AACOMAS opens for the next cycle, that way you'll have a seconday in by september and interview in october and be one of the first accepted. Good Luck on whatever you decide.

They sent me the secondary invite last week. I actually called them in and told them my stats (GPA, MCAT...) and asked them if I realistically had a chance of getting an interview this late in the game. She told me my numbers were competitive and to send in the secondary ASAP. She also said that even though about 65-70% of the class has been filled, there are still some spots left. I hope she didnt just say that to get my $$. Either way, I think its worth a shot. $60 is definitely worth not having to wait another year.

Did anyone get an interview invite recently?

I had an interview on the 5th of April, which is considered pretty late in the game. At first I doubt if I had a chance. I did well in the interview, and got an acceptance letter four days later. It's all about the 30-min interview. Now if you have competitive stats and great experiences which make you a well-rounded person and have a passionate heart for osteopathic medicine, then you might have a good chance of getting an interview, even if it's kind of late in the process, given that only about 70% of the class has been filled. Good luck!

I sent in my application at the end of January, my secondary in March (when it was requested), interviewed mid- April and was accepted 5 days later. If you *really* want to attend there, go for it. Otherwise, you might be a little too late.

Good luck. 😀

Hey ppl,
I just got a call from Western to come in for an interview!! I'm so excited 😀 😀 I sent in my secondary about two weeks ago hoping for the slightest chance of getting into a school this year. I even got an e-mail a couple days ago about my rec letters not fufilling the requirement b/c my physician letter wasnt an MD/DO and by then I gave up. I woke up today to the greatest news I've received in a long time. Anyways, this is my first med interview and I wanted to know if any of you guys have some tips. I'm going to read over the SDN interview feedback and hopefully read thru that DO book by Norman Gevitz. Anyone have any other preparation suggestions?? Thanks
