So I have everything prepared to submit on June 1st, and I think that will help my chances from what I've heard. I plan to apply broadly. My stats right now are cGPA = 3.53 and sGPA is a bit higher I believe, with a 515 MCAT. I'm applying as a FL resident.

If I wait to send in my transcripts until after graduation (June 17th), I'm worried I will be postponing my application time significantly due to having to get transcripts sent (10 days) in addition to having to wait that exponentially longer time to get verified. However, I am taking 18 units this quarter and I plan to get a 4.0, which I have gotten pretty much every quarter since junior year, so I have a strong upward trend as is. If I do get a 4.0, my cGPA would be >=3.59 roughly which I imagine would help my chances a lot as well. Also, since I plan to apply DO as well, should I wait to send those in at least since the general rule of thumb is that you can not rush as much with DO apps if your in the GPA/MCAT situation I am in? I would really like input on this DO aspect as well if possible!

Q: Should I wait to send in transcripts and deal with longer time of applying or apply early with 3.53 and send updated grades in secondaries or update letter?

Thanks!

I'd wait. That's a big bump and as long as you can get the secondaries back in a reasonable time frame it won't really matter. is June 17th your graduation or the date of your last exam? Usually, schools update transcripts well before graduation in case people fail something required so you could potentially send them in sooner.

My graduation date is June 17th, but classes end on the 15th. The day for grades to be posted is like the 22nd or 23rd.... seems like I wouldn't get my app verified by mid to late July which kinda sucks with my GPA and MCAT.

I submitted my application before my finals grades were in and I didn't encounter any problems. If anything, it allowed for "updates" post-interview, since a few of the schools I interviewed said that another semester/quarter of good grades are a good update.

on the other hand with an overall moderate GPA but having upward trend calculated into the AMCAS GPA, it would be quite positive as part of the application instead of a more subjective addition of an update which may not be accepted at all schools

That's true. My GPA didn't need the extra grades, but his would benefit if it would raise his GPA.

Odd they let you graduate before they even know that you've passed all of your classes...

But it seems like you have your answer!^
