Serious problem.....i need advice please!!!

Hi guys. I have j-1 visa and it will expire 26 of sep,actually my ds2019 it will expire on 26,and i think i will have one more month for traveling after that.The thing is that i want to take NBDE 1,but i dont have a time,i need 2 more months,so i was consider b-2 as a option.After that going back to my country and applying for Dental University.I am affraid that if they refuse to give me b-2 visa i will be in bad situation because i will be out of status.Can someone with simular experience give some advice,and i would like to know how big my chances are? My immigration lawyer asked for 700 $,so i am wondering isn't too much,but i dont think it will be a good idea if i try without.I ve tried with f-1 but it's too late,the classes started already,maybe after 3 months it will be something else,but i am not sure....AND THE LAST QUESTION IS:HOW LONG IT WILL TAKE AFTER B-2 APPLICATION IS MADE, TO FIND OUT THE RESULT....THANK U A LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTTTTTT

You case looks very complicated. You'd better hire the immigration lawyer you mentioned. Good luck.

I've found one application form,it's "i 539" and it says that i can extend my j-1 visa,or atleast change my status,and it looks very simple,fill the form,and wait....i really cannot understand what the lawyer can change,

Lawyers can just advise you if you don't know the correct way (or other possible way) to do it. If you know what you have to do then go for it...
