I thinking about reapplying and I want to improve my application before I reapply.
cumGPA 3.74 sGPA 3.7 DAT 19 AA/20 TS/16 🙁 PAT

what are the things I can improve to make my application competitive?

Do you think I should reuse my old LOR or try to get new ones? when should I request my professors for new LOR (right now or I should wait)?

How important is to rewite the personal statement?

Any suggestions for schools I should apply If I do not retake DAT?

Damn~~! I just can't believe that you are considering REAPPLYING with those stats. You must have got in somewhere with your numbers...;;;

If I were you, I would definately reapply to as many schools as you are able to apply to.

Your stats are definately not bad. (except for the PAT)

It may be that something other than stats are holding you back.

Thanks everyone for the response!

Doc do you think my LOR and Personal Statement is holding back my application?

Anyone please give me some advice regarding these two question

Do you think I should reuse my old LOR or try to get new ones? when should I request my professors for new LOR (right now or I should wait)?

To the OP: I agree with the 'wow,' it's hard to believe with your stats you did not get in. Did you get any interviews?

My humble opinion & experiences:

-Get new LORs. Even if all the profs do is redate the LORs they already submitted... I think a more recent LOR probably looks better. Request a new LOR whenever you feel comfortable doing so. I met with my professors for the most part by the end of January to ask if they would write me a LOR, although I did not ask for any of them to actually write them until AADSAS opened up.

-Rewrite the PS. Obviously, it was not outstanding enough to get you in this year. I did not even look at my old PS until I had written an entirely new one.. then I read the old one to see if there was anything I had left out of the new one that I did want to make sure was still in my PS. If you're not comfortable starting completely over, have as many people as possible proofread your old LOR and give you suggestions on what you can do to improve.

What is holding you back is anyone's guess. For specifics you need to contact the ds where you applied. It is unlikely that the low PA is the culprit. On the ps question-it does not appear that it was particularly helpful but it is a question that can be answered more readily by reviewing your ps.

I did not get any interviews this cycle. Thanks for the advice!

Where did you apply? was it like 2 schools or what?

I applied to six school in October 2008 UIC , SIU, NYU, Indiana, Michigan, and Marquette. Right now I am waiting to hear form UIC, SIU, and NYU and the rest denied admission. I think pretty much UIC and SIU is full, therefore the only hope I have is NYU.

there's your problem... u applied so late... apply earlier next cycle...

VERY LATE APPLICATION!

90% of the time, when someone with good stats doesn't get in, it's because THEY DIDN'T APPLY EARLY! I clearly made that statistic up, but I think most people who know what they're talking about would agree with me.

Plus, you only applied to six schools. That's really cocky 😉. Keeping with the Midwest theme, add Case Western, Ohio State, Detroit Mercy, & Louisville, plus add some large private schools such as Tufts, Boston, Temple, & Nova.

You'll get in. Just apply broadly and apply early.
