Hi,

So, I have always known I wanted to be a doctor. I know it is what I am supposed to do. I have a pretty solid resume since undergrad (graduated in 2017) with plenty of research, volunteering, working (as an MA) and physician shadowing. My one weeknesses from undergrad was my GPA (3.0 science and 3.4 general). Since gradating, I took the MCAT (505) and decided to do a masters program in medical science. So far, I have gotten all A's (B in biochem) and decided that I should try and retake the MCAT. I studied for MCAT while taking classes and was feeling pretty confident, especially since a lot of what I was learning in class semi lined up with the exam. I re took the exam after getting AAMC Fl scores of 507, 509 and 512. I just got my score today and got a 502. I am very confused and upset -- however after giving myself time to be sad, I know it is time to push this aside and figure what I need to do to reach my goal. I know I have the knowledge base and drive to be an excellent medical school student, but need to know where I should go from here. So far, the two options I have come up with are

1.) Apply this cycle and most likely not get in. Then after graduating from my program in December, study MCAT once again with no classes to stress me out and apply again for the 2021 cycle.
2.) Take this summer off, and study for MCAT again since the material is still fresh in my mind and focus on HOW to take the test. I could then apply this cycle, but would be sending in my MCAT scores late.

I believe set backs are a way to grow stronger and I am in no way deterred from the medical school application process. I am looking for advice as to the smartest way to approach my situation.

Thank you in advance!!
You're fine right now for all DO schools. Do not retake the exam and apply.

OR

Skip this cycle, retake the exam, and then apply to MD and DO.

IF you have exam taking anxiety issues, those need to be fixed first.
