(This is a throwaway so I don't reveal anything else about myself inadvertently.)
Hello SDNers;

This last week, I was involved in a an incident on my campus which involved a group of us breaking the campus COVID regulations, and I will likely be receiving an IA. I was hanging out with my friends socially, we are all over 21 and had a permitted amount of alcohol, and another group of friends showed up. With this second group, we were over the limit for the number of people who could be in a room at any one time, and I was in the process of leaving. Literally as I opened the door, campus security walked up and stopped me leaving. I am devastated. I've gone my whole 3.5 years with no incidents, I felt like I did everything right, and now I feel like I'm screwed because I wasn't proactive enough to prevent myself being in this situation. I know that the pandemic is serious, I've been careful to abide by the policy other than this, but I don't think it matters. I understand the gravity of my mistake, and will not allow it to happen again. Is my application likely to be DOA with this on my record? It was a dumb moment by a college senior trying to hang out with my friends, and I don't think it reflects me at all.

Thanks for anything.

Doesn't seem too bad tbph

Have you asked to see if this could be expunged if you keep your nose clean?

We're good with mask wearing, this was just a stupid kid moment that I'm paying the price for.

It's still in the process of making its way through the system, so I'll need to wait and see what options are available to me after a decision is rendered. Hopefully it only goes on the school's internal records. I'll still need to report per AMCAS, but I'll feel a lot better personally.

I'm doing my best to take this as a learning experience. Thank you all for the replies.

I think that this will hurt you (certainly all ties will go to those without an IA on a medical issue), but it is not disqualifying. You might want to expand your application list a bit.

I think that if you go with, you were socializing in a group of the allowed size (don't need to bring ETOH into it), more people showed up putting the group size over the limit, you opened the door to leave and security was there to write up the group for a breach of school rules. Short, sweet, to the point. You come out looking like a responsible party who would sacrifice his own good time for the sake of the group (leaving when the group got too big) but unlucky enough not to get out the door before the cops showed up. I don't believe that this will hurt you at all.

Thanks for the recommendation. I definitely will try that angle when it comes down to app writing time.

I will post a followup when the IA is finalized in case anything changes regarding what I get rendered guilty of.

Thank you all again, I know I sound neurotic but I'm angry at myself that I let this happen, and I was driving myself nuts over the past few days.

I had a alc IA and had no issues this cycle so I don’t think you should have any problems n=1
