SFSU 2019-2020 POSTBAC

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I still haven't heard back about the date and time of my zoom call. Did they email you the date and time? What classes are you looking at taking? I'm super excited 😀
Yeah! My advisor emailed me a time and date after I emailed them my availability throughout the week. I haven't signed up for classes yet, but I definitely want to take Developmental bio and general virology. I am still trying to decide on another class to choose from but let me know what you are planning on taking 🙂

I'm actually a career changer so I'm doing all of the basics. Ido know that they make everyone do a colloquium for the personal statement. So maybe we will meet the rest of the cohort in that class 😀

Is anyone else having a little trouble enrolling in classes? I'm an AET and can't find a lot of the electives I want to take in the fall. I've found some classes under Undergraduate courses, and some in Post baccalaureate, but some I can't find at all (Physics in Medicine, for instance). If anyone has enrolled with no problems let me know! 🙂

Hi everyone! Just wondering, are ya'll down to make a FB group for the new cohort? I feel like itll be a better platform for us to get to know and help each other out!

Yes love this idea!

Hello, did you have the meeting with your academic advisor? I believe they add you to the classes you need. I know that courses are post bacc only, so I feel like it's possible but that course is available but must be added by your advisor. I have yet to have my advisor meeting or get classes added, but from previous students none spoke about not having the classes they needed available

hey! I did have my meeting with my advisor last wednesday. they won't necessarily add you to the classes you want to take, as it's our responsibility to enroll, but she did offer incite on which classes to take for my specific goals. A few of the biology courses offered to us, I found in the undergraduate section, but when it comes time for you to enroll if you find otherwise and wouldn't mind letting me know that would be great!

Since the only students in the classes are post bac, we do not worry about the classes filling. I believe we add the classes ourselves. I did meet with my advisor today, Rachel. She discussed my course plan for the entire program. I still need to ask about registering but she stated not to worry being that the classes cannot fill up.

I don't have a Facebook, but I will make one sometime soon so I can join the group! I also had difficulty finding the classes trying to register, but I might email my advisor to see if she can help. I couldn't find some of the classes offered that was sent in the email so I am a little confused.

Im applying for fall 2020, any advice. I currently work as a tissue technician and have a BA in english. Im taking science at my local cc. My gpa from my undergrad was a 3.3 I went to uc davis. I have intern hours with my local county coroners office. I have read other stats and dont know if I have enough hours to be considered. Thanks in advance!

Also for applying what does college math course mean? Im applying for summer now because im unsure. Im currently enrolled for gen chem 1 and trig w/ college algebra before I take precalculus to get into calculus. I took stats 300 and am not sure if this is acceptable for a college math course.

Hi everyone! I just got an interview invite for the fall and I'm really excited that I'm one step closer to getting into the program. Was wondering if anyone who has been interviewed already could give me some advice? I'm pretty nervous because I really want to go here.
