I am considering applying to allopathic medical school and a DO (emergency medicine physician) has agreed to let me shadow him. Do you think admission committees would prefer that I shadow an MD, or does this even matter?
Thanks!

I personally don't think it would matter at all.

Take all the experience you can get!

In terms of letters there is the slight chance that some schools would prefer an MD letter, however I don't think this would be much of an issue at all at a vast majority of programs.

It's not going to matter. Keep in mind that there are DO's on staff at allopathic schools so there's always the chance that the person looking at your app or interviewing you at an MD school could be a DO.

Enjoy the experience.

No. Not even remotely. Go for it.

Probably matters as much as getting a 3.99(DO) or a 3.991(MD).

😀

They don't give a rats behind. You'll learn more from the DO. hehe. j/k

You probably won't get in. Everyone knows adcoms see DOs as inferior beings that aren't real doctors.
