If the mentor webiste dindt work, you can try the link i posted above. Thats how I find a DO to shadow. You can just cold call or email or send a letter via snail mail explaining who you are and what kind of experience you are looking for. If you want, i can send you a copy of what I sent the docs. I sent it to about 12 and got a pretty good response. GL

bump.

I emailed a bunch, most people got back to me and said sorry but no for whatever reason. if anyone knows a DO/is a DO I would be forever indebted to you if you PM me their contact info.

I know a few, but you'd have to come to the Jersey area....womp

Dr.Hannah Eucker

She works in CT at an OMM office and is a resident at St.Barnabes in The Bronx..

You can also contact the Osteopathic department at the hospital

She works In ridge field ct btw and will let you go there (2 hour drive) or at the hospital on Fridays but you might be able to work your way in there for more days..

hey jersey isn't thaat bad

also, thanks for the dr. eucker rec! I emailed her practice.

UPDATE/EDIT: got someone to agree to let me shadow! w00t. I emailed research coordinators of teaching hospitals in NYC and got a response within an hour instructing me to set up a meeting via his assistant.

to anyone searching for docs to shadow - this was way more effective than searching for private practices in my area and emailing docs/contacting alum depts

just google "hospital affiliations" of schools you're interested in applying to, then it takes some effort to dredge up email addresses of research coordinators at those hospitals

Nice! I'm still looking/waiting for one physician to get back to me. I have one MD who is looking amongst her colleagues to see if any of them would let me shadow.

My research mentor advised me to contact schools to see if they have lists of active alumni who would be willing to allow me to shadow--so I shot off a few emails. Hopefully I'll hear back!

Anyone with thoughts about DO U.S. schools vs. overseas programs? Making the choice soon and looking at all sorts of programs. All feedback much appreciated! 😉

Instead of spamming, try searching...

I also am in the NYC/new jersey area & I have called/emailed a lot of DO office's and still no luck in finding a DO to shadow 🙁 I have tried looking up teaching hospitals, but still no luck there either. I would greatly appreciate and help/tips of where you found success!

for the emailing teaching hospitals route - as i mentioned, it was pretty time consuming to look for relevant email addresses once i found teaching hospitals that were close to me. don't just email research coordinators, email DOs directly too if you can. i think i emailed about 60 people, and 2 got back to me.

here's a list of NYIT affiliated hospitals

ha... i just realized that link contains lots of contact info, including email addresses and phone numbers. i wish i had found that when i was looking...
if you call/email everyone on that list, you should be able to find someone.

Take the subway up to Touro-Harlem, and hang out with the OMM faculty. OR, take a drive out to Long Island, and visit NYCOM.
