I have shadowed a couple podiatrist but have yet to find one willing to let me watch during surgery. Anyone have any tips and getting into the OR? Specifically, does anyone know a podiatrist in the Salt Lake City area that will allow this?

Not from your area, but, you honestly just have to ask around. Especially Podiatrists who do surgeries in their offices, not in hospitals (the paperwork can be tricky). Ask the Podiatrists you've shadowed if they would allow you, or if they have any connections that would be willing. I personally just looked around google for a surgical podiatrist in my area and told him about my interest, how i'd shadowed quite a bit but I was really eager to observe a surgery. He got back to me really quickly and let observe one the following week. I guess I got lucky, just keep trying though!

Will do! Thanks for the advice.

Like Plant Based said you should try to ask one who does surgery in their office. I had this issue and found out its pretty hard for the doctor to get clearance (financial stuff, paperwork) for you to come into an OR. But if the podiatrist does surgery in office or at a surgery center s/he may be more able too. Overall the one who I shadowed had a surgical suite in his office and I got to watch close to 70 surgeries in office but only 2 at a surgery center because he had to pull a bunch of strings and I watched from behind a glass. When in office i was literally got to be right next to him.

When I did placement with the podiatrist back in the states he took me to the hospital a couple of days; he was the director of the resident program, so it was easier for him to get me access to the OR.
