how exact do i have to be when indicating my shadowing hours on the aadsas application?

i don't exactly remember the total number of hours so putting an exact number would be tough. also, what's to prevent me from fudging these numbers? do they physically call up each of the dentists and ask them the hours?

doubt it.

Use ur best judgment. If you really shadowed for 34 hours... its okay to round up to 40 (or down to 30)..... But doing 20 hours and reporting 100, I dunno, whoever interviews you is going to think you have 100 hours worth of observation.... Under most circumstances, thats fine, but if they start shooting shadowing questions at you (very basic stuff) and you can't answer, its gonna look fishy.

Yeah you don't have to put an exact number down, but just estimate how many hours you did spend shadowing. If you're going to get an LOE from the dentist, you can also ask him to write in how long you have been at his office. You don't need a huge number of hours. Shadowing is to let you know if dentistry is something you can see yourself doing, not necessarily trying to learn the procedures.
