Hey everyone! Quick question:

Throughout the application process (and in trying to decide what program is right for you), have you actually had the opportunity to observe an OT class in action on campus? Do programs generally allow this? I would love to see if this is a possibility with one of my out-of-state schools that I am applying to over my spring break, but I am not sure if this is really even allowed. Thoughts?

Thanks!

Yes, I've had two classmates do this! It was at different schools and in both cases they had contacted the admissions coordinator, who knew specific professors and classes that would be appropriate for sitting in on. I should note, they asked after they had attended info sessions, exchanged emails, and had some contact with the admissions coordinator. I wouldn't advise asking out of the blue, but I'm sure it's happened. Do it!! Good luck!

Thank you! I met with admissions over the winter since I couldn't attend any open houses due to work and being out-of-state. I am wondering if I should at least ask while I am visiting my family in the state that the school is in. I just didn't know if this was acceptable or not! 🙂

I did this! The school I did it for was very gracious and easy-going about it. The admissions assistant I had met when I went to an info session offered to set it up for me when I inquired about it. If anything, usually people observe a class after they are accepted. But I think it's good idea to do it before you apply to a specific school. That way you can see how students and faculty interact and how the class is taught, etc.
