(1) WHAT? How can you not like Man Ram ("Manny being Manny" is a great saying!) and Big Papi?

(2) Youkilis, along with Pedroia and Ellsbury, are awesome young homegrown talent.

Fine. I take it back. I don't have a problem with Youkilis or with Coco Crisp.

But I certainly find both Manny Ramirez and Big Snobby irritating to watch on television. Not because they're good, but for all their grandstanding. I do respect their awesome power.

All the kiss up to the sky they do whenever they bat in another RBI. Ooh, it boils my skin! It's just so obnoxious! (Methinks I may be the only one on SDN who's irritated by this, but oh well... 🙂) Pretending as if they're deeply religious. You just know these are the first two guys womanizing and snorting cocaine after winning a big game.

I heard Mike Lowell was offered 3 years/$40 million by the Sox. The Yankees put their deal on the table: 4 years/$50 million. I think if I were Lowell, I'd go with the Yankees unless I had some dying need to retire a Red Suck. Considering that he started his Major League career with the Yankees and played for a while with Florida, I don't see why he'd need to stay in Boston.

And today New York offered a TEN-year/$275 million deal to A-Rod. Wow. He totally got schooled on negotiation! He could've gotten much, much more from any other team. I wonder why he stayed? Does he really want to be a Yankee? I don't get it. He did say it back in September just as they were entering post-season play, something to the effect that being a Yankee was the most important thing to him. Then he announced his intention to opt outta his contract on 10/28 and now we're back to him "wanting to be a Yankee?" Weird.

I hope Lowell stays with the Red Sox, and finishes out his career there...I know he has history with the Yankees, but come on! How can you go from being MVP of the Series to playing for a rival team again?
