Shadowing seems to be a hot topic right now, so I'll add my post into the mix.

My daughter has her 4 month check up next week, would it be acceptable if at the end of the appointment I asked her pediatrician about shadowing opportunities at that facility?

One other question, an instructor I had has agreed to write me a LOR. What information do I need to give her if I plan on using Interfolio? I had been using a thread on here from the past as reference, but I can't find it again.

I don't plan on applying until the 2016 summer, but I wanted to be prepared. Especially since I had my daughter during the semester and feel she will write me an excellent letter.

I think it is acceptable to ask if you can shadow someone that the pediatrician knows, either in that clinic or another one. Just explain that you are planning to go to medical school in the next few years. If they aren't too busy, I am sure they will gladly ask. As for Interfolio, someone else may be able to chime in since I don't know. If you plan on applying 2016, maintain contact with your instructor. You probably should get an updated letter closer to the time when you apply.

I agree that it's fine to ask the pediatrician about this. He/she will already know the clinic's policy in this regard and what docs have offered that opportunity in the past. It's hard to miss an unknown, nicely-dressed young person repeatedly lurking in the hall outside the offices of your colleagues.
