I am currently an ED scribe in a level 1 trauma center. Between that and my classes it takes up most of my time. I am however concerned about shadowing...I've done shadowing before (~25 hours worth) but essentially in scribing, I shadow a doctor for an 8 hour shift - but also chart the patient, etc.

My question is....do I really need to continue to shadow? I can see where perhaps shadowing in a different speciality other than emergency medicine would be beneficial (Ive done surgery and pediatrics), or do I bolster my application with other EC's?

You don't need to worry about shadowing anymore unless there's an area of personal interest you have not explored.
