Do DO schools require proof of shadowing? Like something that says I shadowed a doctor for specific amount of hours? Or do I just include it in my application?

How exactly should I input my shadowing experience into my resume and the aacomas applications, especially if I have shadowed multiple doctors?

Approximately how many hours are ideal?

Kind of sounds shady the way you are asking this question. They have every right to validate your shadowing hours if they feel enabled to do so. Also, if you do somehow get an interview with a school then they will probably ask you about your shadowing experience and how it impacted your decision to choose medicine, furthermore it is very easy to tell if someone is lying about shadowing..believe me. Most DO schools require a letter from a physician and some even require the letter to be strictly from a DO. Once you start filling out your AACOMAS you will realize how to log the information correctly. If you are unsure, then AACOMAS has a FAQs sections that will answer any question you may have. If you don't find your answer, then you can e-mail or call them for the information you are seeking out. As far as hours go...there are no SET amount of hours needed or that are ideal for a favorable candidate. What is important is, did you learn anything? Did it help you progress further into your ultimate decision? Can you see yourself doing this for the rest of your life? Also, shadowing is good because becoming a physician is a life long commitment, shadowing gives the student some kind of perspective and opportunity to ask questions of the physician to see if that is really what YOU want to do.

Thanks! And I didn't mean to sound shady...I'm just shadowing at different places and want to know if I should be asking for some kind of acknowledgment of shadowing incase schools ask for it.

Your letter from a DO (which is required at many schools) will confirm your shadowing hours.

Schools don't ask if you have shadowing. They just want to know you understand what being a DO entails and why you want to become a DO.

Meh, I wouldn't go as far as to say this, because 100% of the schools I have spoken with have all inquired about my shadowing experience.

Schools ask if you have shadowing experience indirectly by requiring a letter from a DO. The letter, your personal statement, secondary essays and primary activities list will all show proof. In the primary they will require contact information for each person/Doctor you list. Hope this helps!

For me, only 1 school did, but only because I brought it up. Most of them just ask why you want to become a DO, or why this particular school.

You say most, but it really depends. I can guarantee that if you have very minimal or absolutely no shadowing experience it will be brought up as some sort of deficiency. Just on a side note real quick, do you plan to attend Rowan for sure?

True, but I think the OP will have at least some shadowing experiences. The interviewers were more interested in my research experiences. Why are you asking about Rowan?

Just curious to where you plan to go??

Mostly no but you better not be lying about shadowing. Adcom aren't stupid and they will likely catch it.
