Hi all,

I normally shave my head, but I don't see a lot of doctors with this style, or medical students for that matter. I know that some find this style intimidating, so I am wondering if I should just leave the short hair on my head as is. My girlfriend says I look younger with a shaved head (because I'm partly bald), but I don't want interviewers to be put off.

I know this may seem something of a silly question. Feel free to tease me. But I want to get this "right".

Thanks

Look professional. That is all it needs. There are pre-meds I know who got into medical school but who are bald.

Being bald is better than being hairy, in my opinion, if I have to choose.

Add a goatee and a pork pie hat.

You should just shave some cool designs into your hair like Ron Artest.

Just kidding, I think a shaved head would be sufficiently professional. It probably won't make too much of a difference either way.

I like the shaved head look. And I agree that if a guy is balding, shaving it all off does make them look younger.

I think if you dress professionally it would be fine. Hopefully some of the actual adcom members here will weigh in.

I have several students who shave their heads, so no biggie. Chewing gum and looking like you're bored? BIG mistake.

I had a right parted haircut for my first two interviews.

I'm going with an almost shaved head (fade with a 3) for my next 3.

I saw quite a few very short haircuts at my first interview.

Why you changing it up? Just curious

You liked the haircut I had? I thought it was a bit too much like Antonio Banderas.

a buzzcut for me is a bit better for everyday use (gym/work/going out). Plus less maintenance.

Yeah I thought it was pretty classy. Hard to say no to the lower maintenance option though

I thought so too.

I usually do a fauxhawk for everyday, so I might just trim it to a right parted trim.
That way I can make it classy for the interviews, and fauxhawk it when I go out.
