Is it worth it to use one of my W's for a stupid PE class that I just can't make work? Or should I stick it out and suffer? I know no one is going to look at my transcript and freak because I dropped a phys ed class, but would that W be better used in the future (for some kind of emergency, or something)?

i wasn't aware we were given a number of W's that we could use...they're not freakin' wildcards dude 😱

i have quite a few W's, and none of the adcoms mentioned anything...

good luck! :luck:

It might be worth it to check with your school and see if PE classes are handled the same as regular classes. Some schools will just drop failed PE classes off your transcript.

Is there some particular reason that the PE class isn't working?...that you didn't know about before the drop deadline? In the grand scheme of things, I imagine most schools aren't really going to care that you got a W in a PE class.

In my opinion a poor GPA is worse than a W on your transcript. I don't know if physical education courses count on the AMCAS or for Med School though.

If it's a class and you've taken it, you're required to list it on AMCAS. Not bcpm-worthy, though.

I'm sorry...

PE...difficult? Not work out? What do you have to do to make PE NOT work out?

I'm sorry...I thought this thread was about someone who dropped urine.

I had a similar thing happen. I got a double ear infection, a sinus infection, and pneumonia all as the same time. I was on the varsity swim team and took the option of having it count as a PE class (1 credit). After talking to the school's registrar and the Dean they gave me a mid-semester drop from the class once I provided a doctor's note. It's worth the attempt to drop the class if you can, if not, just take the W and if it comes up, explain what happened.

That's exactly what I thought as well. I was expecting to read some story about someone working in a research lab who dropped a bunch of urine-filled test tubes or something.

now that would be vastly more interesting.

it's not working for two reasons: i fell ill right after the term started and missed 3 of the classes, and then the class i have about 20 minutes after it moved across campus. there's no way on God's Green Earth i could make it over there in time. hmph.

i dropped it yesterday. i figure it's not that big of a deal and we'll all probably be dealing with far worse things in life. like shattering test tubes of urine all over the floor (???) hah.
thanks for the advice, all.
