I am taking the cell bio and histology shelf on monday, and I was wondering if there were any cell bio lectures online that would be worth watching. Also any other advice that would help me get around an 80% in 2 days of studying.

Memorize the hell out of Paulsen's Histo. It could be done in 2 days if you are efficient and study really hard

I am using BRS right now, and it seems pretty good but doesn't seem to have enough cell bio material.

What the hell is a cellbio/histo shelf

I recall getting freaking murdered by the cell bio on that test, but I also hadn't touched it for a few months before my quick read of Burns's Rapid Review. I still ended up doing pretty well on it, so I'd recommend the RR.

My Histo BRS doesn't include Cell Bio, the NEW 2010 BRS for Biochem includes cell bio. I think most BRSs got updated this year, you should get the new ones, they are much better.

Im taking the shelf next week, what is Paulsens. I have BRS, do I need to supplement with something else?

BRS is the money and it DOES have a whole section on cell bio. At least BRS "Cell Biology and Histology" does 😉. I rocked that exam and only used BRS. Pay attention to those beginning chapters and the biochemistry type stuff (what type of molecule is Spectrin? What does it do?) and less on the nitty gritty layering of every organ system. Hormones are also key (what type of cell does X hormone come from? Where is it?). In terms of the "layering" of systems I mentioned, pay attention more to conceptual stuff like - where does it make sense to have ciliated epithelium as opposed to squamous? ...make sense to have more muscle? ...make sense to have cartilage? etc. And remember, the questions on shelf exams will not be obvious, they are masked and you'll often think "wtf? I've never seen this before," but somewhere you have the tools to solve it. Stay creative.

By the way..an 80% on that exam would be like 97th percentile, i think.

I got an 85 on the exam raw score which is apparently pretty good but that shelf is absolutely useless come step 1 time, it's such a low yield subject.
