I was wondering if working as a shipping technician for CVS is acceptable experience for pharmacy school. This is the description: The primary responsibilities of a Shipping Technician are to assist the pharmacists in the Quality Control area, accurately and efficiently pack patient orders, and prepare medication orders for shipment with the appropriate carrier.

Were you just putting them into the bags/boxes? I suppose you could say that it gave you exposure to one field of pharmacy. Were you able to observe the filling/verification areas?

I'm not sure LOL. I just found this job posting. I have been looking for a pharm tech position for months but no luck. Just wondering if this would be close enough experience

With mail order, you have the chance of moving from shipping to a tech position if you take the test to get certified. If you are already certified, then I would say apply for the job. If you get it, make sure they know that your intention is to move to the production area...but don't say it like that. Just say that you are willing to be flexible and that because you're a fast learner blahblah you are willing to be put into any positions, and emphasize your certification. Just drop a hint, ya know? As soon as a tech position opens up, jump on it 🙂

When I worked mail order, we had a few shippers that got their cert and just transferred to production. The company I was at liked to hire from within, anyway.

+1. It will be so much easier to become a tech once you are in the system as opposed to applying from the outside.
