I often hear about med students choosing not to attend lecture, but I also know that many do in fact go to class, that doing so helps them learn the material. I think most would agree that it really comes down to what works for the individual. Some benefit from lecture, others not so much. Granted, I'm not a med student yet, but throughout undergrad, I've almost always benefited from going to class.

I don't remember where, but I recall seeing the schedule for a typical week at some school. The day started around 8am and ended at 3pm. To the best of my knowledge there are schools with shorter and longer days than this. I was wondering which schools are known for having the shortest days. Does anyone have an idea? Thanks in advance.

Most days at Penn in MS1/ first half of MS2 (pre-clinics), we get done by 1pm. Usually one day a week we have something in the afternoon, it just depends.

Needless to say, since our lectures are also taped and put online, life here is pretty sweet...Of course, people fill the time with studying / volunteering at clinics / doing research, etc...

Pretty sure the NYU days are short as well.

I go from 8-12 for lecture every day and have small groups/preceptorship on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

On those days, we get lunch from 12-1 and then go till about 3.

I know that University of Maryland has class for first years from 8-10 and a 2-hour study group after that and it flip-flops for second year...or the other way around. Either way, 2 hours of class daily plus clinicals thrown in here and there (plus studying, of course).

Are you asking which schools has the least busiest schedule? I know a friend who is a 2nd year med student now and told me that people generally get atleast 8 hours of sleep per day so its not too bad. But then again I guess that depends on the person..

btw. the school was university of utah

I usually got enough sleep, but your brain won't get enough rest. That's where the first two years hurt.
