Math was never my strong point. I've looked through a handful of medical schools and most are satisfied with statistics, while only the most prestigious ones require calculus.

What's the general take here? Should I do both just to open up my options in the future?

Thanks for any input 🙂

It seems like every year fewer and fewer schools require calc.
It's not necessary to take it. Plus if you wind up killing the MCAT, having a great GPA and fantastic ECs and want to go to one of the few top tiers who still require it you can pick it up any time before you matriculate.

Unless somewhere you really want to go requires it (like a major IS school) then I wouldn't worry about it. Especially if you don't care about math.

Thanks for the help.

I think you should take calculus because calculus is awesome...

I think even the most prestigious ones are phasing out calc in favor of stats.

I recommend going for the easier and more relevant route by taking stats.

Calc is awesome but by no means necessary, especially for someone who isn't good at math

It's fun to say you took calc I and II, but stats will be so much more useful to you in the long run.

True although the critical thinking associated with calculus is certainly invaluable.
