I was accepted to a summer research program at the medical school I am matriculating to in August. This program runs from May to July and I receive a stipend for participating. I graduated in December and have been taking time off so I'm not concerned about having enough time to relax before school begins. The areas for the research program are not what I currently hope to pursue as a career (mainly neuroscience type research), do you think it might be worthwhile?

Take the time.e to relax

Yes.

1. Your career goals may change considerably during your medical training.

2. Networking.

3. CV building.

Thank you both for the advice. @Goro I was able to graduate in December so I have been enjoying lots of time off and this does not start for a few more months so more time to relax!

@HomeSkool, you are right - I did not think about the networking and that my interests might change.

Thank you both again.

My good friend @Goro and I usually agree, but in this case we've given you conflicting answers. The takeaway from that, I think, is that you're holding a great hand and can play it however you'd like. Don't fret and stress yourself out over this; you've got a wonderful dilemma and both of your options are good. Congratulations!

OP, I defer to my wise colleague, so go for it
