Hello,

I am a senior at a small liberal arts college. I am graduating in May. I have done all of my shadowing/volunteering/etc, but I have not taken my MCAT yet. I have access to the complete KAPLAN review books, but I am not sure if I should apply in the 2013 cycle. I plan on studying the summer after I graduate. Technically, when would I be able to submit.....all of my information will be complete, but I plan on taking the MCAT in August of 2013.

Thanks for any help!

Mind sharing your GPA and state of residence?

You want to apply as early in the cycle as possible, which means some time in June. Given this information, I think you are taking the MCAT too late, so that being said, I would shoot for 2014.

I'd prefer to avoid taking 2 gap years....as I don't have promising employment yet for the gap year

You probably need to take the MCAT earlier then. An August MCAT won't kill your chances, but it will affect them unless you're a superstar applicant.

if you plan on applying next cycle...an Aug MCAT won't help much since the scores take about a month till it returns.

That's fine, but I bet you'd also prefer to get into med school the first cycle you apply and not waste thousands of dollars and countless hours of emotional investment because you applied too late🙂.
