Hello everybody. 🙂 Here is my situation: Sophmore at University of Texas, Current Overall GPA 3.36 and math/science GPA is 3.5, taking the PCAT in October. I want to apply to University of Houston or University of Texas at Austin. The deadline for application is in February. If I wait and apply in early January my Overall GPA would be around 3.57. Should I apply now with a low GPA or wait. The only problem I see with waiting is that most of the seats would be taken. Any advice would be helpful. 😀

go ahead and apply 🙂 They will see your grades this semester also, so don't worry about it.

that GPA can be competitive. but it all depends on the applicant pool. but there is nothing to lose by applying now. if you dont get in this year, you can spend another year in college getting a degree.

Hi!
wannapharm,

I was wondering can you apply now with 3.36 GPA and then give them your updated transcript as soon as you finish your Fall semester? I mean, give them another transcript with your Fall GPA that way they can see 3.57 GPA. Because lot of pharmacy schools want to see the Fall grades in order to accept students. I don't know if UT-Austin does this.

This is what I know!, but to be sure call the UT pharmacy school about this or go personally to the pharmacy school since you are currently at UT.

I hope this helps!

I am not looking at the website, but if you are applying through Pharmcas then just apply now and use the academic update feature as soon as your fall grades roll in. If it is not a pharmcas schooll, then I would call the school and ask the advising department what they would suggest. It never hurts to go directly to the source.

Thank you to every one who replied. Since my GPA is little low I am just thinking about waiting till I get my fall grades in. I know my GPA is competitive, but I don't want them to throw my application out because of low GPA. 😳

Does the University you are applying to have rolling admissions? If so, applying late will hurt your chances more.

I would also go ahead and apply now. If you are concerned about it, you could call and talk to the admissions counselor. I would guess that if they have rolling admissions that they would tell you to go ahead and apply and to just send in your updated transcript when you get it.

Good luck!

UH does having rolling admissions. I have made an advising appointment with UH on October 18. I will ask the advisor on what to do. Will update what happens. 😳
