Hi everyone,
I"m predental, living in CA. I just want to get into CA Dent. School. Overall GPA 3.7, science GPA 3.9, DAT 19, PAT 15. I wonder if I should apply this year or retake DAT and apply next year? I really need your advice now. Please help. Thanks.

Nice GPA. What did you do to prepare for PAT? There are some schools with cutoffs.

How early can you take the DAT? With your GPA I think you should go ahead and apply ASAP and re-take the DAT when you feel ready. I don't know much about the CA dental schools, but even with a late application, I think you still have a good shot getting interviews in the spring. You should call up the schools and ask them what they think about your DAT scores. I know 15 PAT is low, but I would get their opinion, it is better than wasting a year.

If you didnt go to a grade inflated school then i say give it a shot. but 15 on the PAT might pull you back. Also, you should know that schools in CALI are very competitive compared to other states. Another thing u should know UOP put emphasis on good PAT score

Your pat may be less of a problem than the fact that your gpa and dat scores are out of sync.

o yea and also, UCLA wants good PAT scores.
this is directly off their website
"Academic performance on the DAT, in particular the PAT portion of the exam to determine spatial aptitude"

so i say if u ONLY want to go to schools in CA. retake the DAT and try next year

you should and I'm sure you can do better than that c'mon...try some CDP stuff, you should get at least like 18-19 after that lol. and yea raise DAT AA too. at least 20+

you should retake DAT as soon as possible and apply! I think you'll have a shot with your GPA if you write before the end of aug...but submit everything before that at least...I wouldn't count on gettin in w/ that PAT score tho...
