I am currently in my 3rd gap year, my first gap year I quit medicine lol and did everything else besides medicine, traveled saw the world etc etc to solidify my choice about medicine. 2nd year in my gap I was pre-PA (took some additional classess required like AP 1,2 + medical terminology) but not satisfied with the scope after working w PAs and shadowing them. Finally - I know for sure I am in it for the long haul shooting for MD.

With that being said..

cGPA: 3.55 (major upward trend like.. from a 2.5 freshmen year yikes, Senior year i was at a 3.9 all upper division science classes)
sGPA: 3.67
Clinical hours: 3,000+ (medical assistant + scribe)
Volunteering (unpaid as a nurses aid): 1800
100 as a crisis volunteer
50 doing outdoors volunteer (planting native plants)
200 volunteering at an elementary school
Leadership: Department Coordinator for the volunteer program at the hospital, trained and made schedules for students etc ~ 800 hours
Non clinical work: licensed esthetician for 5 years, general manager at a salon
Shadowing: 100 (MD: family medicine, dermatology, PA: general surgery)
Research: 400 (microbiology wet lab)
LOR: 3 MDs, 3 science profs (chem, micro, neuro)

MCAT: NONE, nada... not yet..

What do yall think...? Wait and study for the MCAT and apply next cycle or just get the damn thing over with, I dont wanna waste my time on an application that will get 0 interviews.

You need 150+ hours of non clinical volunteering such as food bank, homeless shelter, etc. since some schools screen at 150 hours. Study for the MCAT but do not take until your practice scores are consistently 507+.
Is 200 at an underserved elementary school not enough?

You should get out of your comfort zone and show you can deal with people very unlike yourself.
You probably should think about waiting a year. This will give you time to study completely and well for the MCAT and give you time to find some nonclinical volunteering.

Good luck on the MCAT!
