Its my senior year and I will most likely be graduating with a 3.5 overall, a 3.4 science gpa and a DAT score of 20aa. I have participated in two research positions, one related to dentistry and have a decent amount of community service hours. I was wondering what my best course of action would be? To take another year off to boost my gpa, or apply this cycle. Also, I am retaking my DAT before applying in July.

Thanks in advance for any inputs

Your GPA looks fine to me, I would go ahead and apply if I were you. Why are you retaking the DAT after you scored a 20? Just asking out of curiosity.

I think you should apply broadly instead of retaking your DAT. No guarantee you'll do better man.

Thanks for the input guys! Some additional info, I am a California resident and am hoping to get into a school instate if I do apply this next cycle. Thats another reason why I feel I have to retake my DATs. Would you guys suggest taking additional classes while applying and elater sending a course update?

If you have more time to study for the DAT this time around and you think you can improve your score by 2-3+ pts, then retaking it will definitely maximize your chance. In terms of the classes, Biochemistry and Anatomy&Physiology would be on top of my list. You can send in the grade update when AADSAS opens the Academic Update cycle.

send your app early in june 1st batch and once u retake and (hopefully) improve by 2-3pts you can send updates with your unofficial score report

@dieanotherday: would my app still be considered in the 1st batch if school were to receive my scores in July?
I believe interviews can start as early as september someone quote me otherwise

for the schools that got your 1st scores with the 1st batch of your early application, if they already decided to give you an interview with said scores
it doesnt matter if they receive your second scores now does it?
now for the schools who havent made their mind up yet, when you do send them this update maybe they will be further swayed to give you that interview
