My app is complete at 5 schools.
DAT: 23AA/21TS/22PAT
GPA: 3.77 Total / 3.68 BCP & Sci.
Honors program
Adequate ECs/volunteer/work experience
3 semesters of research, including a funded research project. I will write a senior honors thesis this year.
~50 hours shadowing; 90% general dentistry
I work as a dental intern 1 day a week in a rural solo practice, basically helping the place run more efficiently.
My schools are, in order of preference:
UMN (in-state residency)
UOP
UPenn
Marquette
Temple
I have a strong interest in rural dentistry and I have in-state residency for UMN, so I think I have a great shot at getting accepted there. I really do like each of these schools, however, and would be glad to have an acceptance from any of them. Are there other schools with a focus on rural / underserved dentistry that I could apply to?
Here's my "other" list I'm considering applying to. UConn and tOSU grant in-state residency relatively easily, and Nebraska and Colorado are other Midwestern schools I'm interested in. My dad's side of the family lives in Nebraska and we visit frequently (would that help my chances there?). Are these guys too out-of-state unfriendly to consider applying? Or is my original list of five all right?
UConn
tOSU
Nebraska (UNMC)
Colorado
