Should I apply to any state MD schools in addition to DO, or strictly DO?

Hi so I am a little late to the application process, but I just got my MCAT score back recently. 505 with a 3.2gpa (science and non-science). Is it worth it to apply to any state MD schools (I'm in FL) or just stick with DO entirely?

Thanks for the help!

I’d apply state md as well. You’ve got nothing to lose and everything to gain. Just know that doing so this late in the cycle likely means you’re going DO

If you are really focused on primary care and write about it in your secondary you have a shot at FSU, their average MCAT was a 505 last year I think, but its pretty late this cycle to start applying to MD schools but like it was said above you don't have much to lose (other than some money) and everything to gain by applying MD as well.

I think your only shot is at FSU, that GPA is a killer and your mcat is below the national average. You should be okay for DO schools but apply broadly.

If you are anywhere near the state MD average, or if students with stats similar to yours or slightly above yours were accepted recently (sometimes state schools publish detailed info about who was accepted, for prospective applicants to look at) then apply.

Source: I did not finish my state MD app because I was in the bottom 10-20% of accepted applicants, figured I hardly had a shot so it wasn't worth the work. I'm happy, but better not to leave the "what-if" question out there for yourself.

I'm also from FL and had a 3.8+ and 505-510 MCAT; I applied to all of the FL schools, got one interview, and was waitlisted. It's probably a waste of money, especially at this point of the application cycle. I applied because I didn't want to always wonder "what if?", but I submitted my apps as soon as they were open. I would think it's too late now with those stats.
