Hi, my apps got mailed out today and I can't stop thinking that I applied to schools above my numbers...and I would like to ask your honest opinions whether I should apply to more schools just in case.

First, I transferred from california community college to UCLA...my ochem and chem classes and one of my bio are from community college, including many other prerequisites.

GPA-AADSAS Verified
BCP: 3.49
Science: 3.53
Non-Sci: 3.82
Overall: 3.61
(I have 2 F's and 2 W's - numbers look good, but much lower GPA at UCLA compared to CC GPA)

DAT
AA: 22
TS: 23
PAT: 25
(lowest on RC: 20)

Volunteer work
only 2 entries...🙁

Research
I have ~1000 hrs of research, but nothing relative to health or dental...mostly molecular biology/microbiology

Letters
I have 2 from research (one, I actually did research for credit and wrote reports and everything, so I'm counting it as one from science faculty) 1 from biochem professor, and 1 from the dentist I shadowed for 7 months, but I wrote this one...she made me write it 🙁

Schools I applied to (I'm a california resident}
CA Schools----NY Schools--------NJ Schools---------MI Schools------PA Schools
UCLA-------------SUNY SB-----------UMDNJ---------------Mich---------------UPenn
UCSF-------------SUNY Buffalo------------------------------------------------------Pitt
USC---------------Columbia
UOP---------------NYU

Do you guys think that I should apply to more schools?

7 months? How many hours do you have?

Everything looks good. You should be getting some interviews from the schools you mentioned. I personally wouldn't bother applying to any other schools. 12 is a pretty good number.

I think you are okay with that list of schools. Good luck this cycle!

@ amg09 There is no need to be rude or immature on the forums. If the OP was trolling then I would understand your response. Just because someone has great stats doesn't mean they can't ask a simple question. Give the OP a break.

Hey man, i have a 3.9 sGPA and a 26 DAT, but I only have 80 volunteer hours. Do I have a chance this cycle?

of course, not everyone has an inordinate amount of hours. you can always volunteer in the interim to ease your conscious, then add in the hrs when you receive your secondaries

:boom:

There are 50+ schools. Some of them I won't get in (Howard Types) , some I don't want to go to for a plethora of reasons (location, associated culture, costs etc) and I came up with my final 10. If you've checked off all the ones you would attend if you get in, you have no reason to ponder whether you should apply to more.

Thanks everyone...
I hear a lot about people with great stats not getting into any dental schools because they only aim for the top schools, so I felt insecure.

btw, in my opinion, jerks who spend time to write useless replies on a forum like this, full of people with hope and some with dumb questions like mine, because everyone feels insecure before they get in anywhere, don't do very well in life....you should be worried....
