Should I apply to Texas state schools?

hello...I was wondering about out-of-staters' general experiences in applying to state schools in Texas (which is virtually all of them except baylor)...is there any advice or guidance you can give me in deciding to apply to a few of the schools?

Even Baylor is about 75% Texan by law (the school gets money from the state).

I hear regional applicants do well, and that Baylor and UTSW are the most open to out-of-staters (esp. Baylor since its private).

i was an out of stater and had an interview at Houston ( i attended tex A&M so that may have helped). Apply if you want.
