Should I be Worried about ECs/What schools should I apply to?

Just curious about my ECS

1 Summer of Research in Organic

5 semesters as Co-executive of a Forest activities club ---- volunteer to clean up and raise awareness of the resource our university has

3 semesters on ethics debate team --- 2nd place in nation, nationally renowned team

1 summer shadowing/volunteering in hospital

1 semester as associate director of research and development in Student government

1 semester on the school judicial board

1 semester leading news discussion for honors college

Started a news discussion for entire campus online --- to get more people involved

Presidents list all semesters, Omicron Delta Kappa for leadership, couple of other awards for grades

(A lot of it is short term because I am studying abroad the semester before I apply --- next spring)

I started out with almost nothing Freshman year, besides the forest stuff. Got more involved sophomore year, and am doing even more my junior year while I will be here (upward trend???)

I know med schools look at duration a lot, and I was just hoping that even with that, my ecs would be good enough.

I am shooting for schools in NYC/Chicago, based off of location, and it just so happens most of these school are top-20, so I am hoping my ECs are good enough.

My bad for sounding arrogant, I am mostly looking to see if my ECs are good enough now.

I know there are many who have significantly better ECs than me, so hopefully now I won't come off so negatively.

And my activities are all relatively short termed, so I was hoping that the quality of them would help me get by, since I do have high hopes in med school.

just wondering if my activities are good enough to allow me to shoot for top tier schools, where numbers are no longer as important (since everybody most likely has them).

While I agree with previous posters, I can give a bit of feed back too.

You seem to have lots of leadership activities, which are a plus.

But this is the only medically related activity you list. I's say your orgo research doesn't exactly count, unless you were doing work on building nanobaskets that when shot with radiation open up and deliver cancer treatment.

So, in that respect, I think your app may be viewed as weak. I didn't see your numbers before you deleted em, but still, ad coms like to see dedication, and awareness that you have tried to get experience in the field you want to dedicate yourself to.

Hopefully, your shadowing was a good influential experience, hype it up in your PS.

Seriously guys? Just looking for a little bit of advice here, no need to post if you can't help me out.

Thanks to those who did give a serious response.

I am really hoping to maybe get some decent financial aid or at least go to school in NYC or Chicago, where the majority of schools are top-20, so I just wanted to really know my shot, from an EC perspective, at those school.

But I guess the fact that I am not getting any serious responses could only mean good things (about my app, maybe not about my personality, although I honestly was not trying to "suck my own dick" in making this thread, considering I have no incentive to show off on an internet forum, especially one where there are individuals who are amazingly more qualified then I am).

Anyways, OP, I would say you have a good variety of ECs, and that they will not hold you back from any top tier schools, because you have everything you need plus some less common ones.
