30 MCAT (12/8/10)
ECs: tutoring (3 years), club leader (2 years), coach (6 months), work with disabled ppl (1 year), 80-100 hours nursing home, no research

I'm Canadian too so my 30 MCAT is pretty bad. Should I just go DO and not bother with MD? Or should apply next year and buff up my ECs and rewrite the MCAT.... don't think I'll do well on the new MCAT cuz I haven't taken biochem or sociology and I already suck at verbal/CARS. Thinking I should just go DO...... but DOs are IMG in Canada and I would have to do my residency in America. Don't know if I can live in the US for 7 years..... . So should I even bother with MD considering my MCAT and ECs?

With a 30 MCAT, I can't recommend it.

Is this because he's Canadian? Would you be able to recommend MD for a US citizen with the same 30 MCAT? Or do you mean 30 is just too low-yield for MD schools in general?

Thank you for the responses. Yeah, it's hard for Canadians. I heard of one Canadian with a 30 MCAT who got in America but it was a while ago and he must've had great ECs. I heard of another Canadian with a high gpa and a 30 who didn't get any interviews. Most of the Canadians I know who go USMD have 33+. Life is hard for us Canucks.

Why not skip a cycle, prep for the MCAT, and take it again?

I haven't taken biochem and sociology courses. I'm already bad at verbal. I don't think my score would be good enough for MD even if I rewrote it.
