Hey so heres the thing,
I'm a freshman at cornell and started doing some basic research last semester (Western blotting, protein assays, stuff like that) and continuing with that this semester. Unfortunately, the prof. in charge of the lab is off to Germany for the summer and the lab will likely close for the summer. There are still a good number of REUs accepting applications. Should I even bother applying? Last semester I had a 4.02 (in the basic freshman science courses), was involved with a few health related student publications, and began the previously mentioned research. Thanks.
