I took Calc 1 and I did fine ..thank god ...I was so happy that i'm done with MATH for my life. Now, people have been telling me that Calculus 2 is reqired too. Is this True? Will I be fine without Calc 2 or Is it wise to take Calc 2? I just want to be on safe side. Asking your opinion guys ...need to register before Monday. I will appreciate.🙂

Calc 2 is not required at any medical school that I know of. At many places, statistics can even be substituted for Calc 1. If you enjoyed it, take it again. However I felt just like you did, I was veeeeery happy to have math over with 🙂

Get the MSAR book, you have to take Calc II if you're considering Harvard or Hopkins.

I stand corrected.

Or actually, I'm sitting...

I sit corrected.

But I'll probably get up in a minute, and then I will stand corrected.

So yeah. There ya go.

So I should only take if i want to go for Top 10s. I really don't enjoy taking stupid MATH again!! But If I have to then I would have to make my self like it. Did u guys all took it?

I know ...One of the Big subject finally over!! NEVER MATH IN LIFE..God I was so happyy....untill........................................😳

Make sure you have a year of math, regardless of what classes you take. I took three calc classes...it wasn't fun, but I think a year of math is a general requirement for many schools.

I didn't take Calc II, as a matter of fact I only took Calc I for this one school I really wanted to go to and they rejected me anyways. So, the MSAR (got mine cheap on ebay) will tell you each school's course requirements.

Okay.

For those of you who have not taken Calculus II, it is not like Calculus one at most schools. In calc I, just do some of your homework, pay a little attention, and you'll get an A. If you come into Calc II in most schools, especially ones that are strong in engineering, you are in for a beating. Unless you think you want a math/physics minor, don't bother. Most of the ADCOM members themselves have not taken anything more than
Calc I and won't feel like getting an A in Calc II or III is so impressive.

I also made the mistake of taking Calculus Physics I and II, which makes the general physics courses seem like the homework from 9th grader. My ADCOMs did not care or even recognize that there was such a differential degree of difficulty until they asked why I didn't get an A in Calc Physics II.

I'd take some classes in the humanities instead of the harder sciences if I could do it again.

This is true, except that if you take Calc I your first semester, they assume the courses you took in HS were equal to a pre-calc course in college. You CAN slide by with just one semester if it's a solid course, say about 5 semester credit hours. If it's 3, take another; If it's 4...take something else that's easy. This is just my experience, by the way...

What do mean? ...I think the Calc 1, I took was 4 credit hour. THis is ****ing Confusing!! 😕 ..I'm so stuck ...I have heard dat CAL 2 is harder than Calc 3. If I don't take it right now ...and IF incase I have to take it in the future then I'm screwed!!...cuz I will have to go through Calc 1 again for BASICs....I really appreciate all of yours reply.

Thanks to all, 🙂

Definitely do not bother with calc II. Take other courses that interest you more and that are more relevent to medicine. Instead of calc II, take some sort of upper level bio course that will help you out... this is better than calc II for sure! If you are unsure of math requirements, check out your favorite school's websites. I can't think of any school that requires more than one semester of math.. also most schools allow you to fulfill that requirement with statistics or computer programming.

You mean I should take like Microbiology or Phycology even though it's not the pre reqs for BIO MAJOR.

Chill out and take a course that will make you more well rounded. You don't need Calc II unless you want to go to a select group of select schools.

:luck:

Take a year of Math: College Algebra and Calc I and be done with.

Also, Harvard HST requires Differential Equations, beyond/in addition to Calc I/II.
