Sorry for the dumb questions, but do schools give you like a locker or something so you can put your bags while touring the school and doing the interview? Or do they expect you to leave them at some place like your hotel or something?

Also, while you're actually going to the school for interview, do you bring like a notepad to take notes? Is it weird if you bring like a folder or even back pack so that you can show the interviewers whatever documents or things you want to show?

Bring an executive portfolio or folder ... something like that. A bag you'll just have to carry around the interview and tour.

In my interviews, I have brought my suitcase/bags with me and they always had somewhere to place it during the interview/tour, thus I checked out from the hotel that AM before getting to my interview. I also always carry a nice looking professoinal binder in case I need to take notes... you never know. I would discourage you carrying a backpack during the interview... I never saw anyone doing this... it would seem a little odd, the binder/folder should suffice. Good luck!

I carried a composition book into my interviews since I was too cheap to get a stylish portfolio 😀

a professional-looking notebook or portfolio would be the max i would bring. any documents or whatever you want to show them should fit in there (what were you planning on showing them? i have never heard of that). i personally didn't bring anything except a pen, they provide you with a nice informational packet which you can jot down notes on the back of one of the papers. the more you bring the more you have to shuffle, carry around, keep an eye on, which is especially annoying to have to do during the tour and lunch. if you absolutely have to check out of the hotel before the interview (i will note here that all the hotels i have stayed at have been kind enough to extend my check out time for free when i explained my situation), try to leave your bags in your car. but if all else fails i have seen a couple people bring luggage to the interview with them and the schools have not seemed to mind, and will keep it behind the desk or something for you until you are done.

Bring an old square metal lunchbox with Garfield on it.

Don't bring anything.

Definitely bring pen and paper. Some schools won't give you a packet and you want to make sure to be able to write stuff down if you want. For me, a "pad-folio" (executive-esque looking folder containing a note pad, much cheaper than an actual portfolio) worked great. Got one at the local pharmacy in the "school supplies" aisle for $8.

Oh yea, that's me. I brought my luggage with me, because I checked out in the morning and was too cheap to pay for another night just for my luggage, since my interview would last past the check-out time. 😀 I'm dead serious! 😉 Don't laugh. 😛

I didn't bring pens, paper, or stuff like that, but..............I brought my digicam with me and took a picture with the interviewers. 😛 Well, who knows you'll be back again?? It's once in a life time, you know.

Enjoy your life, man. I even went to the West Edmonton Mall (the largest mall in the world) before my interview. :wow: Made it just in time for the interview. 😀

I'll be chugging the luggage as well to NYU next week. Paying for anothr hotel in NY...steep...steep, and check out time is before the interview is up...so I'll be heading straight to La Guardia after the interview 😛 Thankfully it's a "fairly" small bag that rolls

Most hotels have a storage room (they keep your luggage for free after checking out), so you might want to ask if they have a room for storage whenever you make your reservation.

You can make a big hit by bringing a cooler of beer for everyone.

Most large hotels have a coat-check room associated with their in-house restaurant. If they don't have that, ask the people at the front desk if they can hold your belongings for you while you are on your interview. If you don't want to do this, you can just bring your stuff with you to the interview, and leave it at the admissions office. I was a little hesitant to do this at first, but after a handful of interviews I realize it is the norm.

I second the motion that you tell the hotel what you're doing and ask if they have a place you can leave your stuff. like i said before, some of the hotels i stayed at just surprised me and offered to extend my check out time for free 👍

For all the girls out there, how is a purse or a small shoulder bag to carry one's wallet, inhaler, keys, pens, emergency brush, etc... i'm a total packrat, and i'd feel very insecure without a stash of tissues and advil 🙂 If i limit myself to something small, is that ok?

you should bring a suitcase to the interview.

yeah, that would impress them 🙄 . Shall i make it a suitcase full of unmarked twenties?
