I am currently enrolled in precal this semester, but I missed alot of classes, and my professor advised me to drop it and take over again in summer 1 because I missed too much. I am applying this fall to pharmacy school, and will be taking the PCAT in August(took PCAT last oct, did poorly in chem). As far as chem/math classes to finish, all I have left is Precal, Cal, and Physics(calc based). There is a chemistry overview course offered at a local university during summer 1 that reviews chem 1, chem 2, and the 1st half of organic 1. They also pay a stipend upon completion of course. My knowledge in chemistry is not as strong as it should be and taking that course would be great to study and prepare for the PCAT in August, but I have been advised if I drop precal, I should go ahead and take it next semester in Summer 1. THE PROBLEM is that both the summer precal class and the chem review class have the same hours in summer 1. If I do the chem review, then I will be enrolled in precal when I apply to pharm school in the Fall, and have to take Cal in Spring. FINALLY, MY QUESTION IS Do Pharmacy schools look down on applicants who have not completed or are not in the process of completing Calculus. I want to prepare for PCAT, but not at the price of being seen as a weak applicant. This fall I will be done with all non-science requirements, which would leave me with Cal and Physics left to complete in Spring during interviews. Can anyone please give me advice that will help me out with making the best decision? It would greatly be appreciated!

1. take pre-cal in the Summer and review chem on your own,
2. take calculus in the fall, and
3. take calc-based physics in the Spring.

I actually have the same problem, except that the reason is that pre-cal isn't offered during summer at my school. I too am wondering if this matters.

At our school, they won't hold it against you as long as you have a plan to have the course completed prior to admittance. Oh and I wouldn't take calc-based physics unless the school you were looking at required it 😀
